MATERA, 28 MARCH 2025 – The European Digital Innovation Hub MicroCyber (EDIH) lands in Basilicata for its latest regional event. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, 28 March at the Hotel San Domenico al Piano in Matera. The event will serve as an opportunity to present the offerings of the cybersecurity project promoted and implemented by the Italian National Agency for Microcredit, acting as lead partner.
During the event, participants will have the chance to explore the services provided by the MicroCyber EDIH and learn about the procedures for participation.
MicroCyber was established with the goal of strengthening the culture of cybersecurity and promoting the secure digital transformation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), professionals, and local public administrations. Through a network of specialized partners, the project provides support for developing awareness and competencies in the field of cybersecurity and for aligning with existing directives and best practices.
“MicroCyber stands as a strategic ally for enterprises that aim to pursue digital transformation in a secure manner, offering tools, expertise, and resources to reduce cyber risks and safeguard business data and processes,” stated Giovanni Nicola Pes, Deputy Secretary General of the Italian National Agency for Microcredit and Director of the MicroCyber EDIH. “Our objective is to bridge the technological gap that hinders the growth of micro and small enterprises, by offering specialized and accessible support for the adoption of advanced cybersecurity solutions. Through public-private collaboration, we are building an ecosystem of excellence that enables businesses to navigate the digital world with greater awareness and protection. Cybersecurity is not merely a technical issue—it is a fundamental pillar of cohesion policies, essential to ensure equitable and sustainable development and to prevent the digital divide from further disadvantaging less digitalized areas, thus limiting their growth and competitiveness.”
Francesco Ramundo, Acting Vice President of Confapi Matera, emphasized that “cybersecurity is crucial for SMEs, as they are often targets of cyberattacks due to limited resources and less sophisticated security measures. For this reason, the MicroCyber project and the event on Friday, 28 March represent a key milestone for small and medium-sized enterprises, which may suffer financial losses, sensitive data breaches, and reputational damage in the event of cyberattacks. Confapi Matera underlines the importance of cybersecurity and, through this initiative, aims to provide its members with valuable support for the development of effective defense strategies.”
The MicroCyber project is implemented through a high-level partnership including Confapi, CINI (National Inter-University Consortium for Informatics), CIRPS (Inter-University Research Centre for Sustainable Development), Deloitte, the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, and Digiform.
